Great 4th of July weekend
What a great weekend. Rehab is 7 days a week, but lighter on weekends so we had some time to get Sam out of the hospital and into the real world. On Saturday night we went to see the fireworks. We sat at Ada Christian to watch them so we ran into lots of school friends, which was nice.
Then on Sunday, we all went to Keystone Church together. This was the 1st time Sam had been in the new building for church and his 1st concern was to find where the snowcones were being served from. It felt good to be there as a family again. My (Kris's) parents and brothers with all their kids came to Keystone too and then we grilled over at our house for lunch. It was a sweet way to celebrate the 4th.
It's Monday morning now and Sam is still sleeping - I can tell the weekend tired him out. It's another light rehab day so maybe we'll both snooze a little extra.
Hope you're all having a lovely holiday weekend.

To the Wassink family....we continue to keep all of you in our daily prayers and it is uplifting to read your notes. A true blessing that the difficulties with the surgery and infection are behind Sam. We will pray for this to continue and we will be asking God to give Sam strength as he works hard during rehab.
Sam, in addition to your faith, you have parents and a brother who always give example of being tenacious and steadfast in their resolve! Work hard, and always remember that the Lord is fighting through this with you. God Bless all of you, the Michael Hollern family.

Hey Sam and Family...
My oldest child is only going into 4th grade at ACS- so the older students are sometimes a mystery to me. Actually, I have heard that Jr. High students are a mystery to their parents as well, but I digress.
I heard about Sam's accident not long after it happened. As an ACS parent, when one of our kids hurts, we all hurt. I am so glad to hear the great progress you are making Sam.
Prayers for continued healing- Mrs. Winter (Carrie)mmc@grar.com

Hey Sam,
It is great to hear that you are improving and having a great attitude about everything. I found this website tonight and appreciated getting caught up on your progress. I am continuing to pray for you Sam, that you can heal, that you keep a positive attitude, and that you can keep on trusting God. God is always faithful--even when we may question it. I hope that you are enjoying that new XBOX and getting many visitors at the hospital.
May God continue to bless you Sam!
Mr. Witte
